Quem somos?

O início - O Instituto Florestan Fernandes de Formação da Cidadania e do Desenvolvimento Humano é uma ONG sem fins lucrativos, fundado em 18 de outubro de 1999. Com Programa FADOC Brasil, a instituição apoia 14 organizações Comunitárias de Base (OCB´s) nos estados do Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco e Bahia, com ações em torno dos eixos “Soberania e Segurança Alimentar” e “Trabalho Descente e Vida Digna (Economia Solidária)”.

Em Ceará, a instituição atua em comunidades urbanas da preferia de Fortaleza da zona rural de sua região metropolitana, do sertão central e da região norte do estado, com ação focada na organização e fortalecimento das mulheres e da juventude, priorizando nesse momento, os municípios de Fortaleza, Maranguape, Caridade, Quixeramobim e Santana do Acaraú.

Nos últimos anos, temos promovido o protagonismo popular de jovens do meio rural, que após passar por amplo processo de formação, estão hoje à frente de sindicatos e conduzindo atividades político-educativas na região do Sertão Central do Ceará. Em 2006, desenvolvemos o Consórcio Social da Juventude Rural com 69 jovens do município Caridade, proporcionando a juventude rural, formação e capacitação técnica, oportunizando geração de trabalho e renda. Na zona urbana, conseguimos avançar na organização e promoção da socioeconomia solidária, contribuindo para que um grupo de mulheres da comunidade do Dendê reencontrasse o seu potencial e o valor do trabalho para a vida.

Missão: Promover o desenvolvimento humano e o exercício da cidadania para construção de uma sociedade sustentável e solidaria, através de ações em torno de quatro eixos estratégicos: formação para cidadania; sócio-economia solidária e desenvolvimento local sustentável; política pública e desenvolvimento local; e organização e fortalecimento institucional.

Linhas de ação:

• Formaçâo para cidadania. Objetivo: promover a formação integral dos grupos e comunidades socialmente excluídos do meio urbano e rural;
• Socioeconomia solidária e desenvolvimento local sustentável. Objetivo: apoiar e desenvolver iniciativas e projetos rurais e urbanos de geração de renda nos princípio da socioeconomia solidária, objetivando o desenvolvimento local e sustentável;
• Política pública e desenvolvimento local. Objetivo: contribuir na qualificação de grupos e comunidades socialmente excluídos para intervirem em políticas públicas e no desenvolvimento local;
• Organização e fortalecimento institucional. Objetivo: ampliar, qualificar, e publicizar a intervenção técnica, política, pedagógica social institucional, visando cumprir a missão e atender com eficiência e eficácia as necessidades e demandas do trabalho e dos grupos e comunidades acompanhadas. Sua ação institucional baseia-se em metodologias participativas de educação popular, priorizando a organização comunitária; a busca e construção coletiva de alternativas e projetos de desenvolvimento local; organização, planejamento e fortalecimento das entidades comunitárias e construção de parcerias e articulações locais.

The beginning - The Florestan Fernandes Institute of the Formation of Citizenship and Human Development is a non-profit NGO without, founded on October 18^th, 1999. Together with the Program of FADOC Brazil, the Institute supports 14 Basic Community Organizations (BCOs) in the states of Ceará, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco and Bahia, with actions around the major axés of “Sovereignty and Food Security” and “Decent Work and Dignified Life (Solidarity Economy)”.

In Ceará specifically, the Institute acts in urban communities of the periphery of Fortaleza as well as in the rural zone of its metropolitan area, which includes the central hinterland and the northern region of the state. The Institute lays its focus on the organization and enforcement of women and youth, at this moment prioritizing the municipalities of Fortaleza, Maranguape, Caridade, Quixeramobim and Santana do Acaraú.

In recent years, we have promoted the protagonism of young people in the rural areas, which after undergoing extensive training processes are now ahead of unions and conducting political-educational activities in the area of the central hinterlands of Ceará. Back in 2006, we developed the Social Consortium of Rural Youth together with 69 youngsters of the municipality of Caridade, providing the rural youth with formation and technical training, providing opportunities for employment and income generation. In the urban zone, we managed to advance the organization and promotion of socio-economic solidarity, contributing to a group of women in the community of Dendê, who rediscovered their potential as well as the value of work to life.  

Mission: Promoting human development and the exercise of citizenship for the construction of a sustainable and solidary society, through actions on four strategic pillars: training for citizenship; socio-economic solidarity and local and sustainable development; public policy and local development; and organizational and institutional strengthening.

Lines of action:

• Training for citizenship. Objective: promoting the integral training of socially excluded groups and communities in urban as well as in rural areas;
• Socio-economic solidarity and local and sustainable development. Objective: supporting and developing urban and rural iniciatives and projects for the generation of income in the Field of socio-economic solidarity, aimed at a local and sustainable development;
• Public policy and local development. Objective: contribuiting to the qualification of socially excluded groups and communities, by intervening in public policies and in local development;
• Organizational and Institutional strengthening. Objective: amplifying, qualifying and publicizing a technical, political, pedagogical, social and institutional intervention, in order to accomplish the mission and meet the necessities and demands of work and of the groups and communities altogether in an efficient and effective manner. Its institutional action is based on participatory methodologies of popular education, prioritizing community organization; the collective search and construction of alternative projects for a local development; the organization, planning and strengthening of community entities and the building of partnerships and local joints.
